A tram is not only rails but cars, depots and people. Over the decades different generations of tram cars passed through the streets of Baku.

Inside there was its own order: wooden benches, handrails, a conductor or a ticket box, a punch for tickets. The tram carried people to work, to school, to the market and to the sea.
The driver's bell, the knock of the wheels on the joints and the swaying of the car became, for several generations, the sound of everyday life.

At night the cars returned to the depot: they were inspected, repaired and made ready for a new day. The depot was the heart of the city's tram operation.
